Hi Mom!
Happy Easter! I hope yours was good! Ours was normal; holidays on the mission are pretty uneventful. But it was really cool to have a testimony meeting for Easter, it seemed to get everyone in the spirit of things and I´m hoping it inspires everyone to get involved more.
The ward´s hurting for people to serve, and we´ve got so many recent converts that it´s hard for us to keep track of them all! I guess that´s not too bad of a problem, but sometimes it gets stressful.
The family that Elder Gill and I reactivated are still going strong, and on the 26th of May they´re going to be sealed!!!! I´m so excited; I think we´ll have interviews with President on wednesday so I´m going to ask him permission to go for sure. I never thought I´d be able to see a sealing on my mission of people I taught, but I really am grateful that I met them.
Things are going well, but the mission´s struggling a bit. The last two weeks we only had 17 baptisms in total (this week was the first week since the middle of January that the zone didn´t baptize). We´ve got some great families we´re teaching, but everyone was traveling this weekend so it was pretty tough. Plus, they have to get married, which is a long process here, but they´re progressing really well, so we´re not giving up on them. We´ve got to find some new people, so that´s our next priority. Talking to people on the street and knocking doors. One of our most recent baptisms was a contact like that, so I know it can work. I´m really just excited to be here, and each day that passes I´m grateful for the opportunity that our family had to find the Gospel.
Think of where we´d be without it!
I´m glad things are busy; the time flies when we´re working hard. In four weeks we´ll talk again! Isn´t that nuts? I´m excited to keep working and to see what these next months have in store for me. I want to keep the standard high here in Paranaguá, and the missionaries are now pretty settled and working hard. I´d say that now we can start seeing the miracles that come from hard work, and I think that this week´s really going to show that. I´ll keep you guys filled in on the details! The cake turned out awesome too! The details are incredible!
I think this week I should get some recipes for some little finger food desserts, so next week I´ll send them to you (I´m thinking about selling them at college for parties and stuff. Gotta make money in any way possible, right?). You can try them out there and see how they turn out! I hope everything´s great, and I can feel you guys supporting me every day. I love you and I hope you know that I know that our Savior lives and that He loves us more than we can possibly imagine. President Cordon invited us to bear our testimonies more often, so I´m trying to put it in practice. But I know that without Him, we´d be hopeless, and that our love for Him is demonstrated in our actions. I´m glad you guys are getting ready to go to the temple more often, and I know you´ll see the blessings that come from that.
Have a great week mom, keep me filled in, and I´ll let you know how awesome this week was! Love you!!!!!
Love, Eric
Hey Dad!
I´m so glad the experience at the temple was so good and I´m glad you guys are getting ready to go more often. I really miss being able to go to the temple being in Paranaguá, but I´m glad that we even have the chance to go in our mission. I bet Nick´s really going to feel it not being able to go. I´m glad a lot of people were there too, and that you took advantage to spend time together. I can´t believe he´s almost out! That´s so crazy! And in 4 weeks, we get to talk again! The time´s going by so fast that I almost miss it. We´ve got a lot of work this week; we need to find new people and really get going, because the mission´s been struggling. This week we only had nine baptisms, and last week only eight. In the whole mission! That´s not acceptable, in all honesty. We´ve got almost 90 areas open and only 9 baptisms? I got mad at myself, but I´m ready to get going and to find those people that are ready to hear the Gospel.
It sounds like you guys are busy as always, which is great, and I know how you feel. We went to Curitiba last week: got up at 4;30 and got back at 8:00. That threw my weekend off, but we still managed to work
well. We´ve got some great families to teach and a few good guys who are mission age too. It´s going to be good this week, I can feel it. The whole zone has people to baptize, and when they do all of the areas in the zone will have baptized again! We made mission history the last time, and we´re about to do it again, all in one week! It´s so great to be a part of this work and to see so many miracles
happening.
I´ll have more to tell you guys next week for sure, but I love you and I know that Christ lives. I know that He saved us from all of the things that this world can possibly do to hurt us, and that if we trust in Him, He´ll lift us up and we´ll be able to be like Him someday. I love you Dad, and keep working hard! it´ll all be worth it.
Have a great week! Love you!!!!!
Love, Eric
